I find it interesting to hear campus leaders and The Daily Tar Heel advocate mandatory student fee increases for various "extras" (like night parking) while also protesting any sort of tuition hike. I would think that the plight of the truly "poor" student would be best addressed by keeping all costs down. It is hypocritical to say that you don't have money for, say, better teachers ... but that you could spare a few bucks for a parking space. Perhaps adminstrators and officials would be more receptive to complaints about rising tuition if students weren't so willing to tax itself for mere frills. If you act like you have money to spare, don't be surprised when others take it from you.
