We are upset and annoyed by the Housing Department's handling of the recontracting process for the new South Campus dorms.
On Friday, March 22, and Tuesday, March 26, students were told to line up in order to receive a room on a first-come, first-serve basis.
We agree that students should have to make a sacrifice to get a room, ensuring that the students who want the rooms most get one.
We wanted to be part of the first class of students to move into these great new communities, and we were willing to make a sacrifice.
However, we do not think we should have to sacrifice our education. We were unable to skip class to camp out and secure a room.
We are disturbed that the housing department would schedule this process on a school day, encouraging missed classes. Why couldn't this process be held on a Saturday to ensure no missed classes and to be fair to all students?
