The staff consists of 12 students who work part-time, paid positions. Senior Nicki Davidson is the student advertising manager.
The award is given by College Newspaper Business and Advertising Managers Inc., which has 120 member schools.
"I think this award is a credit to the hard work and dedication of our student staff," said Advertising Director Chrissy Beck, who accepted the award at a ceremony in Denver.
Next year's student advertising manager, junior Candace Doby, accompanied Beck to accept the award.
The advertising staff also won five category awards in the best classified page/section, best theme pages, best newspaper promotional campaign, best display ad/full color and best classified group promotion categories.
This is the second time the DTH has won the Business and Advertising Student Staff of the Year award in the four years that it has been given.
CNBAM was founded in 1972, and is the only organization that gives national advertising awards to college newspapers.
