In Game 1, Ashley Allen fired a five-hit shutout for UNC (29-21, 2-2 in the ACC).
In Game 2, with the score tied in the eighth, Lauren Parker advanced from first to third on Shannon Walsh's bunt single. Parker scored the winning run on Dionne Streete's sacrifice fly to center.
Men's Tennis Tops 2 ACC Foes
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The UNC men's tennis team ended the regular season Sunday, defeating Virginia 6-1 at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center.
The win came after UNC shut out Maryland 7-0 on Friday in College Park. UNC finished second in the ACC.
Sunday, the Tar Heels (16-5, 7-1 in the ACC) won all three doubles match against the Cavaliers (11-11, 2-6). UNC then dominated UVa. in singles play, winning five of six matches.
Rowers Compete in New Jersey
CAMDEN, N.J. - The UNC novice boats provided the highlights Sunday at the Villanova Invitational on the Cooper River. The Tar Heels took first in the novice eight race and second in the second novice eight. The Tar Heel varsity boats both finished fourth.
Saturday at the Knecht Cup, the second varsity eight and novice four led the way for UNC. The two boats performed well enough in their afternoon heats to make the finals, where both finished fifth.
