Williamson's Story: From Past to Present

1992:

1994: Second outburst, this time in class. Involuntarily committed a second time. Received medication.

Summer 1994: Stopped taking medication.

Jan. 26, 1995: Shot and killed two people on Henderson Street.

Nov. 7, 1995: Orange County jury verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity. Committed to Dorothea Dix Hospital.

1996: Moved to Broughton State Hospital.

1998: Awarded $500,000 in suit against doctor for failing to diagnose paranoid schizophrenia. Verdict quickly overturned.

1999: Moved back to Dorothea Dix.

September 2001: Published "Nightmare: A Schizophrenia Narrative."

December 2001: Granted 10-minute pass for grounds privileges at Dorothea Dix.
