- University police arrested Alonzo McAlpine Alston at 12:59 p.m., serving a warrant for assault on a female, reports state. Alston, a UNC junior, is accused of assaulting a student during a class, reports state.
The victim told police July 8 that after stating a concern in class that day, Alston confronted her and grabbed her left shoulder, reports state.
Alston was released on a written promise to appear in court.
He is scheduled to appear in the Orange County District Court in Hillsborough on July 12.
