It is because of ignorance and a lack of understanding that so many gay men and women experience harassment and discrimination. No one should have to question his/her self-worth because of who one is or whom one chooses to love.
There is a lack of resources available to the public that can give us a better understanding of the specific social problems and questions of identity experienced by the LGBTQ community.
The creation of the Office of LGBTQ Life and Study not only gives us the opportunity to better integrate the LGBTQ community into the University but also to increase the awareness of the community in our society.
