BOG Outlines Trustee Selection

The selection process, which will last from October to May 2003, begins with the assignment of committee members as liaisons to UNC-system schools.

The BOG is responsible for choosing eight of each school's 13 BOT members, with four members being selected by the governor and the last one being the school's student body president.

Liaisons will be responsible for attending BOT meetings at their assigned schools. They also will accept recommendations for new BOT members from the universities.

In March 2003, committee members will present their final recommendations for trustees to the full BOG. Appointed trustees will go through orientation between the BOG's March and May meetings.

The only way an appointee chosen in March would be removed from the finalized list of trustees to be presented in May would be if appointees are found ineligible for the position or do not attend orientation.
