In Brief: University

Students Set Date for State of the University

Members of student government will hold a Student State of the University Address on Oct. 22. The address will be held at 4 p.m. in the Student Union Auditorium.

Student Body President Jen Daum, Student Congress Speaker Tony Larson and Student Attorney General Amanda Spillman will speak at the address, which will be modeled after Chancellor James Moeser's Sept. 4 address.

Congress Scheduled To Host Fall Forum

Student Congress officials will hold a Fall Forum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 18 in 209 Manning Hall. Organizers said they hope the forum will open a dialogue between the student body and Congress members.

Planners say the forum -- the first organized by Congress members in recent years -- is designed to keep students aware of and involved with campus issues.

Carey Richter, chairwoman of the Student Affairs Committee of Student Congress, said she envisions the Fall Forum as a chance for Congress members to inform the student body of what Congress does.

It will also facilitate open discussion about issues on campus and alert Congress to students' concerns.
