Karl Marx would be proud.
The pending decision to link parking rates to salary levels is a thinly veiled restatement of the philosophic, "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs."
Perhaps the parking czars should consider charging more to people who drive new big cars, which take up more space and do more damage to roads and parking lots, or to those who only work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and have ready and safe access to the park and ride lots.
The person with a six-figure salary uses the same parking space as one who earns less.
Anyone choosing to park in the center of campus should pay for it. What happened to the law of supply and demand?
Well, do your worst, comrades. John Galt and I will continue to ride the bus.
