Student's Arrest, Instead Of Game, Should Have Been Officers' Priority

Regarding the "arrest" of Andrew Marcum in the recent string of laptop thefts, the University police have their priorities severely out of whack if they decide not to arrest someone simply because they have to go work at a campus basketball game.

The search of Marcum's residence hall room yielded enough evidence to arrest him on the spot. But the officers were "forced" to leave to go police a basketball game?

I am shocked and appalled!

Were these officers sent to Marcum's residence expecting him not to be home?

Was there no other officer who could have taken him into custody?

Or, for that matter, gone to work the game?

Fortunately, Mr. Marcum kept his word and turned himself in, but I do not feel he should have been allowed that particular luxury.
