Keys for UNC: Regain the confidence of its first preseason win. The team's athleticism and ability to create havoc in transition should help the Tar Heels start the season with a victory, so long as bad decision-making isn't compounded by a bunch of hanging heads. Although Penn State's backcourt is solid, an inexperienced frontcourt will help UNC get comfortable with its team defense and put forth more energy on the offensive end.
Keys for Penn State: Don't be intimidated. The Nittany Lions finished last season at the bottom of the Big Ten and don't have much depth at any position. Brandon Watkins is a quick point guard who could give Felton fits in the half court with his ability to penetrate, and Chambliss is the type of 3-point bomber who hurt UNC in the preseason.
UNC Bench: Rashad McCants is the kind of sixth man who could lead a team in scoring. David Noel could get a ton of minutes, and Jackie Manuel could help defend on the wing.
Penn State Bench: 6-10 sophomore center Kevin Fellows scored seven points in 19 minutes of PSU's final preseason game against Nike Elite.
