Preventing Terrorism Requires A No-Holds-Barred Approach

America needs to wake up. We're in a fight for our lives as free citizens. Millions of people around the world seek to terrorize us and to destroy our great nation.

In this fight, we can't concern ourselves with what the rest of the world thinks. We must go out and do what needs to be done to stop those who would kill us. It's time to hunt the terrorists wherever they are and to stand behind what we've proclaimed -- you're either with us or against us. Are we waiting for another attack on New York City before we unleash our military might upon all of the world's evil, not just al-Qaida cells in south Asia?

And when are we going to forget the incompetent and worthless United Nations, many of whose pompous members represent a wide array of despicable, despotic regimes that will never lift a finger to stop the spread of tyranny? How could we trust any organization that would dare put Syria, one of the world's largest state sponsors of terrorism, on its Security Council, or Sudan, a country with one of the world's largest child slavery trades, on its Human Rights Commission?

And we obviously should ignore the pathetic whining of the leftists in Europe, whose only goal is to continue to appease the evil, as is their habit, as long as they're not the ones suffering.

When will we finally do what we must to keep the terrorists out, no matter how unpopular those actions might be? To begin with, it is not a right to enter this country! It is a privilege. Why have we so easily let 50,000 young Muslim Middle Eastern men enter America since Sept. 11, 2001? It's precisely the fact that these people are young, Muslim and Middle Eastern that potentially makes them our enemies. They are indoctrinated, recruited and trained because of those characteristics, not despite them.

Who are we kidding when we ignore these facts? When will we finally begin to profile potential enemies of our great country, to pick and choose who gets in and who doesn't and to do what needs to be done to keep our citizens safe?

When are we going to start making sure that mosques and other Muslim centers aren't being used to inspire hate and violence, as they are every day, under the auspices of "free speech"? Why do we continue to blindly exonerate the entire religion of Islam and to ignore the cultures of violence and slavery that fundamentalist Islam has created around the world, however different that might be from the religion's true teachings? It would be a terrible mistake to misunderstand the nature of our enemies. Wake up, America!

While millions of Muslims might pray for peace every day, they are, sadly, in the minority of Islam's followers. In today's world, it is peaceful Muslims who are the "extreme" interpreters of their holy book. In many Muslim countries, homosexuals, Christians and Jews are murdered, women are considered subhuman and freedom is nonexistent.

The time to come to grips with reality is now! Our Western ideals, our notions of individual freedom, democracy and choice, are in direct conflict with the desires and aspirations of fanatics the world over. It's our responsibility to spread democracy to those people who aren't fortunate enough to have it and to defeat anyone who might stand in our way. This is especially true when those who oppose us not only resist our efforts at change but also directly threaten our citizens and our welfare.

The war we are fighting now is a global war against despotism and terrorism in the form of militant Islam. Let's see it for what it is. While it might be easier to sit back and hope for the best, we've been down that path before, and we know where it leads. Militant Islam, like fascism and communism before it, will only be encouraged if we show weakness, and its deadly activities will continue to terrorize the world. We know who our enemies are. Let's stop lying to ourselves about what needs to be done and vanquish them -- at any cost.
