Employee Forum to host fall community meeting

UNC's Employee Forum will host its fall community meeting from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Gerrard Hall.

The meeting, aimed at fostering discussions on employee health benefits, will include a presentation by Leslie Winner, vice president and general counsel for the UNC system.

N.C. Sen. Ellie Kinnaird and N.C. Rep. Verla Insko, both Orange County Democrats, also will attend the meeting.

Undergrad premiers service aimed at assisting printing

A new printing service aimed at keeping laser print services free of charge at the Undergraduate Library was implemented Friday.

The Pharos print management system now is being tested in 10 computer stations and allows users to view exactly how many pages they have printed.

Lloyd King, computer labs manager, said he has high hopes that the new system will reduce paper use and help users develop responsible printing practices.

"We were just using too much paper," he said. "We printed 24 million pages last year."

King said UNC might be the only university in the area to offer free laser printing.
