Man linked to recent spate of indecent exposure cases

A man wearing nothing but a long-sleeve T-shirt approached a female victim's car Monday night in an incident of indecent exposure that Chapel Hill police believe might be connected to several others earlier this year, said police spokeswoman Jane Cousins.

The suspect was walking around the Chapel Ridge apartment complex about 9:25 p.m. when he approached the woman's vehicle and made hand gestures to use her phone, Cousins said.

Cousins said that both the suspect's description and the circumstances of the crime possibly link this exposure to four other incidents this year. The man is believed to be in his early 20s, and he has knocked on doors to use the phone in all instances.

"We believe the same suspect has returned and is doing the same kind of indecent exposure," Cousins said. "If anyone sees anything, call 911 immediately. Don't approach him."
