TO THE EDITOR:
After seeing the incredible turnout and enthusiasm at the GLBTSA Curious Drag Show on Monday night, we expected to see that same enthusiasm reflected in The Daily Tar Heel.
We were shocked to have to search for the relatively small story covering all of the events celebrating National Coming Out Day, including the drag show.
We were disappointed that an event that drew 450 spirited people to the Great Hall was given such an insignificant amount of coverage.
The picture used for the story did not adequately represent the visual appeal of the drag show.
With so much that could have been captured during the show, why was the picture not of someone actually dressed in drag?
For readers that may not have been able to make it to the show, the article and story were an insufficient representation of the excitement that we saw that night.
We wonder if this is yet another result of the continued stigmatization of the LGBT community.
