Foreign news influences outlooks

More than 98 percent of Americans own a television set that bombards them with political programming.

But outside of U.S. time zones and American cable channels, there exists a different perspective.

International news often covers countries' political contests, such as the presidential race in the United States, with a different perspective.

"Things that are shown abroad aren't shown here," said Agustin Abdallah, a UNC sophomore who frequently visits Argentina, where his family lives.

In a panel Wednesday night titled "French-American Relations on the Eve of the Election," held at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center, several speakers addressed international relations in light of the upcoming election.
