Today — Carrboro’s community radio station WCOM-103.5 FM will hold a literary fund raiser from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Panzanella in Carrboro.
Listen Up will feature local authors and musicians, food from area restaurants, door prizes and bidding for a pair of tickets to a UNC men’s basketball game.
WCOM began broadcasting a test signal in June. The station, which has programs in both English and Spanish, began broadcasting from 201 N. Greensboro St. on Sept. 29.
Tickets for Listen Up are $45 and are on sale at Grimball Jewelers, Regulator Bookshop & Cafe and Weaver Street Market.
Today — The UNC College Republicans will hold its annual student body president candidates forum at 7 p.m. in 209 Manning Hall.
Today — A community meeting on a proposed sidewalk on Bim Street will be held at 8 p.m. at Carrboro Town Hall.
The sidewalk is part of a $4.6 million general obligation bond approved in November 2003 for the purpose of constructing sidewalks and greenway trails.
