Today — Rick Roca, founder and CEO of Stand Up for Kids, will speak from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Campus Y Building’s lobby on the group’s mission as it tries to build a chapter in a Triangle-area chapter.
He also will speak from 6 to 8 p.m. at Caribou Coffee, located at 1408 E. Franklin St., near University Mall.
Stand Up for Kids is a nonprofit organization that aims to help homeless and at-risk youth.
March 5 — The Carolina Athletic Association and the Student Health Action Coalition will team up to host a Beat Duke party from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Spice Street.
Door prizes will include tickets to the North Carolina-Duke men’s basketball game and tickets to the first round of the NCAA Tournament, as well as an MP3 player, a three-month membership to AC Fitness and gift certificates to several local shops and restaurants.
Tickets are $10, and all proceeds will support SHAC, a UNC student organization that provides health care for needy people in Orange and Chatham counties.
Tickets can be purchased from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday in the Pit. Tickets also will be available at the door.
