Police Log for Feb. 24

- Chapel Hill police arrested a Durham man at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and charged him with one felony count of possession with intent to sell and distribute cocaine, one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest and one misdemeanor count of failure to appear in court, police reports state.

According to reports, Jesse Demetrius Alston, 52, was arrested at 301 Knolls St. while sitting on the front porch. Reports state that when approached by police, Alston attempted to run inside the house and actively resisted arrest.

During the arrest, he also dropped 2.7 grams of cocaine onto the porch, reports state.

Alston was issued a $15,000 secured bond and was scheduled to appear Wednesday in Orange County District Criminal Court in Hillsborough.

 

- Chapel Hill police arrested a local woman at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and charged her with three misdemeanor counts — one assault and battery, one stalking and one making harassing phone calls, police reports state.

According to reports, Lisa Laurie Johnston, 54, was arrested at 101 Manning Drive for the listed charges after being released from the UNC Hospitals psychiatric ward.

Johnston was issued a $500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear March 5 in Orange County District Criminal Court.

 

- Chapel Hill police arrested a Lenoir Dining Hall employee at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and charged him with one misdemeanor count of communicating threats and one misdemeanor count of failure to appear in court, police reports state.

According to reports, Walter Lee Gregory Jr., 29, was arrested on the 100 block of Martin Luther King Jr Street after a woman complained that Gregory threatened to “shoot up her house.”

Gregory was then charged with failure to appear in court for a previous misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge in Mecklenburg County, reports state.

Gregory was issued a $125 secured bond and is scheduled to appear April 4 in Orange County District Criminal Court in Hillsborough.

 

- Two different UNC students were each the victims of breaking and entering and larceny from a vehicle Tuesday morning, Chapel Hill police reports state.

The first incident was reported at 8 a.m. on Rosemary Street, reports state. A checkbook and backpack, valued together at $53, were stolen.

The second incident was reported at 8:30 a.m. at Cherrywood Circle, reports state. More than $1,500 in CDs, a $75 Sony portable CD player and a $100 Flexdex skateboard were stolen.
