Commision to take a closer look at Pope Air Force Base
RALEIGH — The commission considering the Pentagon’s proposed base closure list voted Tuesday to take a closer look at Pope Air Force Base, which the Defense Department had already recommended become part of Fort Bragg and the new home to two major Army commands.
The panel voted 7-2 to add Pope to its list of bases slated for closure, a move that will allow it to further study what to do with Pope. It takes seven votes on the commission to add a base to the list.
