Council tackles myriad items

Online exclusive

Monday night, in addition to events reported in the print addition of The Daily Tar Heel, the Chapel Hill Town Council voted Monday to:

Form a committee to look at inclusionary zoning. The task force, which will consist of 15-18 members with expertise in areas such as development, affordable housing, construction and urban planning, will seek to determine if the council should add an ordinance strengthening its affordable housing requirement, which is currently a recommended 15 percent of all units to be constructed.

Request more information regarding the extension of Orange Water and Sewer Authority utilities to a solid waste treatment plant to be located in the Rural Buffer Area north of Carrboro. The facility is currently located on the University's Horace Williams tract off of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, but will have to be moved as the University moves on with its proposed Carolina North satellite campus.
