About the stipends
Seven members of student government receive a monthly stipend from student fees, according to the Student Code:
$300 goes to the student body president
$200 goes to the student body vice president
$200 goes to the student body treasurer
$200 goes to the student attorney general
$200 goes to the student Honor Court chairman
$125 goes to the student honorsystem outreach coordinator
$125 goes to the student body secretary
The section of the Code dealing with stipends only can be amended by a two-thirds vote of Student Congress.
Opponents of stipends argue that executive branch leaders shouldn't be paid with students' money.
Proponents argue that the money allows those who otherwise couldn't devote their time to serving as leaders and not to holding another job.
