Writing test - proper college prep?

Some say tests assess basic skills

  • Fourth-grade students improved a fraction of a percentage point to achieve 50 percent proficiency.
  • Seventh-graders declined slightly, achieving 46.2 percent proficiency.
  • Tenth-graders jumped up about five percentage points to achieve a proficiency of 53.2 percent.
