  • An incident of larceny was reported Monday at Culbreth Middle School, located at 225 Culbreth Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports state a computer and flat screen monitor were taken from a classroom sometime between July 21 and Aug. 15. The items were valued at $2,023, reports state. The incident is under further investigation.
  • A man was arrested early Wednesday on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports state Jason Paul Mann, of Newport News, Va., was arrested for the weapon charge, as well as charges of driving while impaired, having an open alcoholic beverage in a vehicle and speeding. Mann registered .15 on the intoxylizer test, reports state. He was released on a written promise to appear in administrative traffic court in Chapel Hill on Oct. 24.
  • An incident of trespassing was reported Tuesday at Sutton's Drug Store on Franklin Street, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports state someone had set up residence on the top of the building at 159 E. Franklin St.
  • There were two reported larcenies Tuesday from vehicles parked at 500 Umstead Drive, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports state someone entered the trunk of a Honda Accord and stole a subwoofer valued at $450. Reports state someone also stole a CD player valued at $100 from a jeep parked at the same address. The jeep's license plate, which said "BIGBUFF," also was stolen.
  • A break-in to a home on Caldwell Street was reported Monday at about 10 p.m., according to Chapel Hill police reports. A suspect entered the home without force by going through the window, reports state. According to reports, the suspect stole seven pairs of shoes, valued at $890, and six pairs of pants, valued at $450. Police still are investigating the incident.
