  • Kathy Marie Brown, 44, of 2907 Governor Sanford St., in Efland, was arrested at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. She was armed with a handgun on view and arrested for a felony charge of maintaining a dwelling and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug possession, reports state. Brown was secured in Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail, and she was scheduled to appear Tuesday in court, reports state.
  • An abandoned snake was found on a convenience store's doorstep at 9:42 p.m. Monday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. A resident of 325 W. Rosemary St., found the reptile in front of Keys Food Mart. The snake, valued at $75, was a ball python, reports state.
  • An unknown suspect stole two pumpkins from 227 Vance St., at 8:45 p.m. Monday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The pumpkins were valued at $10, reports state.
  • A man reported an automobile theft after someone who drove to wash his vehicle did not return Monday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The 2006 black Chrysler Crossfire was last seen at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at 1200 E. Franklin St., reports state. The vehicle is valued at $30,000, reports state.
  • University police arrested a man at 9:30 p.m. Sunday for driving while intoxicated, possessing a fictitious registration, driving with a revoked license and driving with an expired inspection, according to University police reports. Walter Olgesby Peatross, 46, of Greensboro, was released into the custody of a sober adult on a written promise to appear in court later this year, reports state.
