  • A report on professors' tolerances of students' ideas on controversial issues in classrooms. Executive Associate Provost Steve Allred said the results showed that UNC has a tolerant learning environment where students can openly express their ideas. The results were based on a student survey taken after complaints about professors' targeting conservative students.
  • A report on individualized therapy research by the School of Pharmacy. The school's ongoing research has shown that medical treatment can be more accurate if doctors use the genes of an individual person to prescribe the correct type of medication, said Howard McLeod, a professor in the pharmacy school. He said doctors prescribe medication that is not the best choice for their patient 50 percent of the time.
