  • Police responded to an incident of assault with a deadly weapon at 173 E. Franklin St. at 2:27 a.m. Sunday, according to Chapel Hill Police reports. A Wilmington man was struck with a pocket knife on his chin, reports state. Reports state that Austin Hunter Thomas, a 21-year-old Concord resident, was found armed with a knife and was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting injury, a misdemeanor charge. Daniel Zachary Thore, a 23-year-old Concord resident and UNC-Charlotte student, was arrested on a felony charge of possession of schedule II drugs and a misdemeanor charge of possession of an open container, reports state. Thomas and Thore were processed and secured at Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail each, reports state. Both are scheduled to appear in court today in Hillsborough, reports state.
  • Police responded to a bomb threat at the 1800 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Harris Teeter at 2:03 p.m. Saturday, according to Chapel Hill Police reports. An unknown suspect called in the bomb threat, reports state.
  • Police responded to an incident of fighting at 2:23 a.m. Monday, according to Chapel Hill Police reports. Reports state that the subjects physically fought each other at 223 E. Rosemary St.
  • Police responded to an incident of breaking and entering by force at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, according to Chapel Hill Police reports. A suspect attempted to open the door using bodily force at an apartment at 708 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., causing damage to the front door estimated at $300, reports state.
  • An incident of larceny by shoplifting was reported at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at Whole Foods Market, according to Chapel Hill Police reports. The suspect left the 81 S. Elliot Road store without paying for items, reports state.
