  • An Efland man was arrested for marijuana possession at 3 a.m. Sunday at South Columbia Street, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Brandon Dustin Alwood, 25, faces misdemeanor charges for marijuana possession and an expired registration, reports state. Police seized 6 grams of marijuana, reports state. Alwood is scheduled to appear in court June 1, according to reports.
  • Shoplifting was reported at 8:43 p.m. Saturday from a Blockbuster at 1848 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., according to Chapel Hill police reports. Someone cut the security strips off of three DVDs in an attempt to steal them, reports state. Damage of $1 each was reported to "30 Days of Night," "I Am Legend" and "Lions for Lambs," reports state.
  • Larceny was reported after someone stole three leaf blowers and a weed eater from a trailer parked at a 1742 N. Fordham Blvd. parking lot, according to Chapel Hill police reports. A total of $1,250 was reported stolen.
  • Breaking and entering and non-criminal damage to property was reported after someone entered an unlocked car parked on McMasters Street and ransacked it late Saturday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. A second vehicle was damaged, reports state. Damage of $300 to a Ford Aerostar was reported.
  • A hit-and-run was reported at 110 Banks Drive at 4:28 p.m. Friday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Damage of $200 to the rear bumper of a 1998 red Ford Ranger was reported, in addition to damage of $1,000 to a 2006 gray Honda Civic.
  • Someone broke into a home on Henderson Street and stole an IBM laptop, valued at $2,600, sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday, according to Chapel Hill police reports.
