DURHAM — The North Carolina women's soccer team set its high goal count of the season Sunday in a 6-0 whipping of Fordham that showcased every part of the offense's game.

After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, UNC exploited an exhausted Rams team and piled up five goals on dozens of scoring chances.

UNC used an exceptionally diverse attack to break down the Rams' overwhelmed defense. Coach Anson Dorrance had deployed the entire 24-player roster by the end of the match.

The Tar Heels were equally successful in a 4-0 win against Georgia on Friday. Three players scored their first goals of the season, and the Tar Heels' defense dominated possession, holding its opponent to only two shots.

But Sunday it was all offense.

Rookie Brittani Bartok, who only recently earned playing time with the team, also tallied her first points as a Tar Heel with two goals in the final 10 minutes.

She's surgically aggressive with her touch" Dorrance said.

There's nothing wasted in any of her skill. She goes right to goal things happen" she's got good vision.

""I think as we build her confidence and she feels comfortable in the college game"" she's going to have a tremendous college career.""

Bartok's first goal came with 9:03 remaining on a cross from fellow rookie Rachel Wood. After beating one defender on the left side"" Bartok scored with a low kick to make the lead 5-0.

""To be honest" at that point I wasn't thinking Bartok said. I was very tuned into the game  which is a good thing. I remember Rachel sending me a cross ball and sticking my foot out. Luckily my first touch was good" and it set the finish up well for me.""

Bartok's bright yellow cleats have made her the easiest player to spot in the field"" but she had no problem slipping unnoticed through Fordham's defense to score two close-range goals.

""If you wear shoes like that you better be able to play" and she can play" Dorrance said.

Even goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris managed an assist by booting a 70-yard clear all the way to the opposing box, where Nikki Washington outran two Rams defenders and the keeper low to the left side. Washington's point was the first of the junior keeper's career.

Just about the only player left empty-handed Sunday was midfielder Yael Averbuch, who had six shots, including one off the crossbar.

The midfielder took advantage every time the Rams defenders gave her space from within 30 yards out and forced three saves.

Dorrance said junior Casey Nogueira has the only other leg he trusts from that range.

It's sort of like 3-point shooting in basketball" Dorrance said. There's some people you never want to have take a 3-point shot" some people you do. She's our 3-point shooter. She has the green light basically from the midstripe.""

Averbuch drew an ""ooh"" from the crowd every time she ripped off a strike" but none found the back of the net — though one unlucky Fordham player spent a full minute laying on the turf after taking one of her blasts to the torso.
