The Daily Tar Heel

Editorials should be signed to increase transparency

TO THE EDITOR:

The days of the middle ""column"" of the opinion page" a section that is not signed by any one individual are ceasing to exist. I know exactly what it is and why you may or may not study it in journalism class. The problem with this section where no one individual but rather this abstract being that is The Daily Tar Heel writes" makes it such that poorly articulate and/or controversial writers can hide behind the guise of this great newspaper's ""editorial board."" I say in the interest of moving forward every single editorial letter is signed. Heaven forbid any one individual take responsibility for these very off-putting editorials. I know your journalism professor may get a little queasy" but we don't want to blame the DTH whenever something poorly written comes out. We want to blame the person who wrote it.
