The 911 emergency number went down today around 9:40 a.m. but was back up around 12:30 p.m., according to Orange County officials.

Lt. Robert Patton of Orange County Emergency Services said they are not sure of what caused the communication breakdown.

Capt. Dinah Jeffries, manager for Orange County Emergency Medical Services, said that this is the second time this has happened this year, but right now officials are focused on fixing the problem.

“We’re having to take care of the emergency right now and then we’ll deal with why this happened again,” she said.
