Orange County District Court Judge Joseph Buckner dismissed the charges of disturbing the peace at an educational institution against UNC senior Haley Koch on Monday afternoon.

The case rested on the viewing of a roughly 90 second Youtube clip and the testimony of UNC police officer Lt. Lawrence Twiddy, both of which reviewed an April 14 protest of a campus speech by Tom Tancredo.

Bob Ekstrand, Koch's lawyer, argued that the case was attempting to criminally punish her for acts of free speech, and that Koch's willingness to leave the classroom where Tancredo was speaking when asked by Lt. Twiddy absolved her of any wrongdoing in this case.
