The Daily Tar Heel

Album from the Vaults:

David Bowie, David Live: It’s rare that an artist can put out a really fantastic live album, but leave it to David Bowie to do just that. This 1974 release catches him at his prime, featuring a compilation of Bowie’s best delivered in the singer’s typical glam rock style.

Movie from the Vaults:

“Office Space”: It’s barely vintage, but this 1999 film documents all the recession-worthy morals to comfort any recently laid-off office crony. Sure, jobs can make you money, but they can also make you miserable. It’s “stick it to the man” attitude at its best, complete with office nerds getting gangster.

Events:

Friday

WKNC Double Barrel 7, Night 1

The Pour House, Raleigh | The annual two-night benefit for N.C. State’s radio station is packed every time. This year kicks off  with the picturesque Beatles pop of Chapel Hill’s Max Indian and the ferocious post rock of Bellafea. Veelee and The Light Pines open 9 p.m., $9

Saturday

WKNC Double Barrel 7, Night 2

The Pour House, Raleigh | Roman Candle holds down night two of State’s party. The ex-N.C. Nashvillians will kill with twang-filled pop rock jams. Chapel Hill’s broken-hearted garage rock mess Spider Bags will also be on hand alongside the excellent folk stylings of Midtown Dickens and The Tender Fruit. 9 p.m., $9

Horseback

Nightlight | The ever-evolving vehicle of Chapel Hill’s Jenks Miller will be on rare display Saturday night as Miller teams with Megafaun’s Brad Cook to pump out what should be hypnotically nuanced bit of noise. Mountains, Tape and Ghost Hand also play. 9:30 p.m., $5
