The No. 3 Maryland women’s lacrosse team avenged a 13-9 loss to North Carolina earlier this month with a 10-5 win in the ACC Tournament finals Sunday.
The No. 1 Tar Heels cruised to an easy 14-4 win against Duke in the semifinals on Friday to face the second-seeded Terrapins (16-1) in Sunday’s matchup.
UNC (14-2) was held to a season-low five goals — two from junior Corey Donohoe and one apiece from seniors Megan Bosica, Kristen Taylor and freshman Emily Garrity.
After a 6-1 deficit in the first half, the Tar Heels attempted a comeback and scored four goals in the second period. But the Terrapins matched UNC’s attempt with four goals of their own to take the win.
Bosica and Donohoe were joined by senior goalie Logan Ripley and sophomore attacker Becky Lynch on the All-ACC Tournament team for North Carolina.
UNC will finish its regular season on May 8 against Cornell.
