Police respond to domestic dispute, blocking North Columbia Street

Scene cleared, road open to traffic

The Chapel Hill Police Department responded to a call of domestic dispute in apartments on the 500 block of North Columbia Street around 11:45 a.m., said police spokesman Lt. Kevin Gunter.

Police Chief Chris Blue and a host of squad cars had blocked off a section of the street while responding, although the scene was cleared by 12:30 p.m.

When police responded to the call, no one answered the door of the residence, which led police to prepare for any kind of situation, Gunter said.

Gunter said there were no reports of weapons or gunshots.
