The College of Arts and Sciences permanent budget will take at least a $3 million cut for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.
The cuts, which were sent out to individual department chairs yesterday, come in response to the $3.7 billion state budget shortfall. The entire University is facing a minimum 5 percent cut of $26 million for the next fiscal year.
“We know what our amount is to the entire college — at least for the first round,” said Dee Reid, Communications Director for the College of Arts and Sciences. Reid said additional cuts could come.
She said that individual department chairs will have to look at their areas to decide how the funding decrease will be implemented.
