Who would have thought after Puerto Rico we would be a top-10 team and a two seed in the tournament? Our Tar Heel boys pulled it off. Another banner in the Dean Dome, perhaps?

Advisory council

The President’s National Advisory Council on Innovation met at the B-School in its first public forum outside DC. That’s a real honor — now let’s hope UNC can innovate its way to budget parity.

Close calls

An N.C. State study found that fatal traffic accidents occur more frequently after close, important games. Good thing it’s nearly impossible to go more than 15 mph around this campus, anyway.

State coach resigns

N.C. State’s basketball coach Sidney Lowe resigned this week. While we’ll certainly miss his State Red blazer in the Dean Dome, we’ll miss even more his team’s spectacular losses at the hands of the Tar Heels. Rivalry reinstated?

Mail order bust

Three Duke students (surprise) were busted for dealing pot after two signed for a package containing several pounds of marijuana. With the bracket they got, the basketball players could be high and still advance to the Final Four.

US life expectancy

Life expectancy for Americans born in 2009 reached 78 years for the first time. This may sound good, but think about it: The next generation will live to see China take over our economic reign and, ultimately, the world.
