Chapel Hill Fire Department responded to a house fire at 618 Sykes St. at 1:45 a.m. Friday.

All fifteen residents of the house were eventually accounted for, and one was treated at the scene for respiratory issues, according to a Chapel Hill Fire Department press release.

When the first responding units arrived, much of the first floor was in flames, according to the press release.

The release states that the initial response included four fire engines, one ladder truck, an assistant fire marshal and a ladder truck from Carrboro.

According to the release, the house was being heated with portable electric heaters, and the fire started near one of those heaters — though the actual cause of the fire is still under investigation.
None of the smoke detectors in the house were functioning, the department release states.

No firefighters were injured, according to the release.
