The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce said in a release Thursday that people impersonating fire inspectors recently visited and intimidated local business owners of restaurants and convenience stores.
The Chapel Hill Fire Department said the impersonators claimed to conduct kitchen inspections and system service.
Townspeople are encouraged to contact the town of Chapel Hill Fire Department and the Carrboro Fire-Rescue Department with questions or concerns.
