CORRECTION: A previous version of this article stated that is was unknown if Dye is being held on bond. It should have said it is unknown if McClinton is held on bond. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.

Chapel Hill resident Michelle Denise McClinton, 48, was charged this morning with first-degree murder of a Chapel Hill man found dead in his apartment Wednesday night, according to police.

After receiving a 911 call from the scene, Chapel Hill police were dispatched just after 10 p.m. to the apartment of Darryn Maurice Dye, 45, on 529 Hillsborough St., where they found Dye unresponsive with a stab wound to his chest.

Danny Lloyd, Chapel Hill police patrol captain, said Orange County EMS arrived on the scene.

“He was pronounced dead on the scene and he was transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy,” Lloyd said.

Lloyd did not say if McClinton is being held on bond, and the arrest record has not been released yet.
