UPDATE at 3:35 p.m.

Classes will be canceled all day Friday Feb. 14 according to a post on the Alert Carolina website posted at 3:32 p.m.

The university will continue operating under condition 3 — meaning offices are closed and classes are canceled — until 8 a.m. Saturday.

The post also said the factors leading to the decision to cancel class included the continuing precipitation, the unsafe and worsening travel conditions and the limitations of Chapel Hill Transit buses.

Chapel Hill Transit buses will not run Thursday after winter storms snarled roads throughout town on Wednesday.

Crews have been working through the night to address hazardous conditions, but the roads are still too slick for buses to run, Chapel Hill Transit Director Brian Litchfield said in a press release.

Chapel Hill Transit will evaluate the roads throughout the day and will update it’s inclement weather page with information about the possibility of opening its routes on Friday.

The University is currently operating under condition 3 — meaning all classes are canceled and all offices are to remained closed until Friday at 8 a.m.
