Five people were struck by a vehicle on Fordham Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Chapel Hill police responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle on Fordham Boulevard near Scarlett Drive, according to a press release from the Chapel Hill Police Department. Upon arrival at the scene, officers learned as many as five people had been struck by a vehicle while attending to an automobile accident that had occurred moments earlier.

The driver of the suspect vehicle fled before police arrived. This person might have fled on foot or have been picked up by a passing vehicle, according to the press release.

The injured were transported to UNC Hospitals with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the incident.
