At 1:17 this afternoon, a cyclist was hit by a car on Stadium Drive.
Michael John, a spokesperson for the University, said the incident was not a hit and run. He said the victim was walking and talking at the scene. At least one Department of Public Safety officer arrived at the scene and took the victim to the emergency room at UNC Hospitals.
“He is no longer in the emergency room and didn’t call DPS back for transport,” John said. “We are obviously assuming the best.”
John said he did not have any more information on the victim other than it was a male. He said he also did not have any information on the driver of the vehicle.
