Move-in dates are quickly approaching, so it's time to start thinking about which Einstein poster will show off both your playful and academic side. Between literally bumping into your new roommates, hauling a mini-fridge up the stairs of your dorm and trying to keep a friendly, welcoming smile on your face, moving in can be a quite the chore. That's why we're here to help you plan ahead so you don't have to brave the masses flooding the aisles of Target on move-in day. Here are some of the things you might be forgetting:
- Storage boxes or containers
- Raincoat, rainboots and umbrella
- Warm coat
- It might feel like the surface of the sun in Chapel Hill on move-in day, but it can turn chilly faster than you’d expect!
- Over-the-counter medicines
- Tylenol, Benadryl, NyQuil, etc.
- First-aid supplies
- Band-Aids, antibiotic ointment, etc.
- Lysol wipes
- Hand Sanitizer
- Duffel bag or carry-on
- Useful for treks home or for weekend excursions!
- Snacks with long shelf lives
- Popcorn, peanut butter, soup, etc.
- Batteries
- Tool kit
- Or, if you’re not exactly handy, some duct tape would also be useful.
- Sewing kit

- Laundry basket
- Stain-removing spray or stick
- Vacuum or swiffer
- Mattress pad
- All dorm beds are extra-long twins and incredibly uncomfortable!
- Toiletries (the less-obvious ones)
