Student assaulted at the intersection of Raleigh Road and South Road, suspect charged

Updated 04/17/23, 4:55 p.m.: According to an Alert Carolina email sent on April 17, UNC Police have identified the suspect from the April 16 assault and have charged him with misdemeanor assault, at 3:00 p.m. today.




An assault was reported at the intersection of Raleigh Road and South Road this evening around 6 p.m., according to an Alert Carolina sent on Sunday night.

A male subject reportedly assaulted a female student, then proceeded to chase her in the direction of the Student Union, according to the campus-wide email. 

UNC Police received the report at 6:30 p.m, but the suspect has not yet been apprehended. He was last seen walking east from the Union in the direction of Hooker Fields.

The investigation is still ongoing.
