Monday 7-8 in Howell 104, Young Democrats meeting with speakers: Councilman Lee Storrow and Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt.
Lee talked about the importance of voting, especially as students.
Mark talked about how the UNC Young Democrats made the difference in the 2008 presidential election, and said that they could make the difference again. He literally got down on his knees to demonstrate how he had begged people to vote when he ran for mayor 4 years ago, and he begged the young democrats to vote and to tell all their friends and neighbors to vote. He also called the Republican plans crazy.

People shaved their heads to raise money for cancer.
I took pictures of the Nicholson family. They entire family shaved their heads. John and Emily (parents), Coleman, 5 1/2 years old, and twins Henry and Warren. Also Coleman's godfather, Lane Smith shaved his head too.
Coleman Nicholson is a cancer survivor, which is why the family is involved. He was diagnosed with Leukemia, and finished his treatment at UNC Hospitals in December 2011.

Julian's celebrated its 70th anniversary Saturday at noon. Family and friends gathered, and a mosaic was revealed that will be completed by graduation on the ground outside the entrance of Julian's.

Frances Katz, 89, finds her inspiration in nature and natural textures. Her favorite season is fall. These photos are taken at the Botanical Gardens (not her artwork) and she showed me what at the gardens was inspirational to her.
She was talking about the sculpture and said:
