October 7th was International Walk Day and Rashkis Elementary School, located in Meadowmont, was among the Chapel Hill Schools that celebrated with a short walk to school. All nationalities of students were represented with flag carried by the oldest students. It was a big event with three UNC cheerleaders showing up to lead the walk.

Chapel Hill is getting its first mosque on Stateside Dr. off of MLK. It is located in a neighborhood and this is the site during construction.

Alex Vasquez, a senior dramatic arts and psychology major, and Max DePietro, a senior management and society and art history major, set/stand together in St. Anthony's Hall, a co-ed art fraternity of which they are both a part.
Vasquez was raised in a Catholic family and now identifies as Christian. DePietro was raised in a Jewish family but is now agnostic.
"I know that my family just cares that I'm with someone who cares about me, not so much the religion," DePietro said.
Interfaith relationships are "another way to gain new perspectives and kind of explore life through that lens," Vasquez said.

Heavenly Groceries collects foods from local sources to hand out at St Joseph Christian Methodist Church on Rosemary Street. They set up the basement of the church to look like a grocery store and individuals from the community come through with their own bags and take home groceries for the week. It appeared that most of the groceries that week were provided by Trader Joes. Any groceries that were damaged or not good anymore were saved for the hogs, so no food went to waste. Student volunteers help out church members and on the day I was there student were in charge of picking up the food and driving in back to the church in the churches own van as well as unpacking and setting up all the food.

Betsy Bertram, originally of Chapel Hill but now living in Portland, with more of the pies and cakes that were being sold. Bertram, was back in town for the week and having helped at the festival for the past few years was happy to help out again, even though she said it was hard to not sample her goods.
