Here’s how on-campus jobs may be affected by COVID-19

UNC's work-study programs — a federal program and Carolina Works, an institutional program to employ those who do not qualify for the federal one — are a major employer for students. However, the programs are preparing for many possibilities and new options for students amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

UNC enters into $1.5 million settlement over Clery Act violations, chancellor announces

In 2019, the U.S. Department of Education reported multiple findings that the University had violated the Clery Act, failing to report and compile crime statistics for years. Earlier today, Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz announced UNC has entered into a settlement with the department, which includes the University paying a $1.5 million fine and agreeing to participate in a post-review monitoring program to further address violations.

UNC School of Law responds to letter from group of Black students

A group of Black law students sent a letter to UNC School of Law titled "Why UNC Law is Not a Place for Black Students." The letter condemned the school's lack of resources and its culture of antipathy towards Black students, as well as the dean for a failure to retain Black students and faculty.  Here's how the school has responded.

Students in Evanston, IL joined countless other cities around the nation in support of the Black Lives Matter movement by protesting against the killing of George Floyd and other recent tragedies on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

What will protests look like in the fall? Community members, free speech experts discuss

In the weeks following the killing of George Floyd, several student groups, including UNC Black Congress and the Black Student Movement, have been involved in organizing protests against police brutality and systemic racism across the Triangle.  However, given UNC’s safety guidelines for the fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic, questions remain as to how protesting efforts will be carried out on the University’s campus during the upcoming semester.
