North Carolina junior running back Romar Morris was arrested early Sunday morning for driving while impaired, according to the Chapel Hill Police Department. The Durham Herald-Sun first broke the news Monday.

Morris, 22, was stopped while driving a black 2001 Honda Accord and was arrested at 4:12 a.m. at 110 Misty Woods Circle in Chapel Hill, according to police reports. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 13 at 9 a.m.

Photos and prints were taken, and Morris was presented before committing magistrate Jennifer Hodgson. Morris was released at 5:30 a.m. to a sober person upon signing a written promise to appear in court, according to police reports.

The Salisbury native is UNC's fourth leading rusher with 162 yards. He is also tied with Elijah Hood with four rushing touchdowns, only behind redshirt junior quarterback Marquise Williams, who has seven.

The Athletic Department will release a statement later this afternoon.
